REVIEW: HUDA BEAUTY #FAUXFILTER FOUNDATION

If you haven't been living in a cave, then you probably know that Huda Beauty finally launched in India, exclusively on Nykaa. However, if you do happen to live in a cave, I'm going to cite a little intro for you.

Huda Beauty was founded in 2013 by Huda Kattan, an American makeup artist, beauty blogger and entrepreneur. Among the first products were her series of amazing false lashes which were worn by the very famous, Kim Kardashian. Huda Beauty launched exclusively on Nykaa somewhere around January. However, the most remarkable and almost a cult-favorite product, the #FauxFilter foundation launched in March. I've tried and tested this foundation in dry as well as extremely humid weather and also in extremely hot as well as cold climate. And boy, oh boy! Do I love this foundation!

WORTH THE HYPE??

Absolutely! The product stands true to its name. It is literally like a filter, a real life filter for your skin. No exaggeration. Feels like butter, blends like a dream!

Pigmentation- 100%

Long-wearing- 100%

Shade range- HUGE (Yaaay for diversity!!)

As far as coverage is concerned, it blurs the pores, redness, blemishes and pigmentation to oblivion.

Huda says that it dries to 'radiant powder-finish' which sounds like an oxymoron to be honest, but the product actually delivers the result. It is totally matte, but it seems luminous just at the right places. And it just doesn't budge. Nah-ah, it doesn't move, not even when you're sweating in sweltering climate. It won't move unless you want to remove it. Even though it provides full coverage, it doesn't settle into fine lines nor does it crease. 

HOW TO USE IT?

Well, if you really want me to suggest, then I'll say you to stay away from beauty blenders and brushes all together. Fingers are the best tool for this foundation. One pump is more than enough, trust me. Dot the foundation to one portion of your face and then blend with your fingers. Then move on to the other portions of your face. This foundation dries real quick so you won't get much play-time. Use the remaining foundation as your concealer. This product acts like concealer/color-corrector/under-eye brightener.. every base product you could possibly think of. So be a little careful while using it because a little goes a really long way.

If you have dry skin, use a heavy moisturizer underneath or else it might feel dry and can look patchy. Oily-skinned sweethearts can use a lightweight moisturizer underneath it. However, skipping your moisturizer all together is not the best idea since its a matte foundation. If your t-zone or any other part of the face gets oily by mid day, dab a little translucent powder only on the areas where you tend to get oily. Don't go dusting your entire face as it might end up looking patchy. This foundation sets on its own.

WILL IT BURN A HOLE IN MY POCKET?

Yes, it will. Its priced at Rs.2990 (INR) for 30 ml of product. Not cheap. But honestly, I can't complain. It is a high-end product and it delivers high performance. Besides, it is cheaper than other cult favorites like the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place foundation but delivers exactly the same results. And I would totally give this product brownie points for having a subtle floral scent and not smelling like, well, paint.. you know what I mean. I would also like to add bonus points to it for the shade range. Retails in 30 different shades and named after desserts (so over-the-top but oh-so-cool), everybody will find their match!

HOW IT FARED ON ME..

Honestly, have a look for yourself-

In this picture, my face is sans any base product. Its just me and my bare skin. I look tired, my eyes are groggy and there are shadows around my nose and mouth and under my eyes as well. You can also spot some splotchy blemishes on my cheeks.

Pouring half-a-pump of magic..

.. and voila! Shadows? Gone. Dark circles? Gone. Tiredness? Vanished! Blemishes? Never existed! This is what half a pump of this foundation does! I have not applied any concealer, color corrector, setting powder, blush or highlighter. Absolutely nothing other than a tiny amount of the #fauxfilter foundation, and it makes me look like I had a nice 8 hour sleep.. Its that powerful you guys!!

FINAL VERDICT

Looking for a foundation that 

a) will match your beautiful skin tone?

b) will hide the fact that you've been netflix-binging for a couple of nights?

c) will also hide the fact that you don't drink enough water in spite of what your mom says?
